“The Flame of Life”

Firehouse 15, Anchorage, Alaska

Aluminum

The four-prong design was created for a number of symbolic reasons.  Each prong represents parts of today’s modern fire department, fire suppression, fire safety, rescue, and emergency medical response

The four prongs also represent the four requirements for a flame, oxygen, heat, fuel, and a chemical chain reaction to sustain the fire.

The cohesiveness, interdependence and common goals that each emergency services’ team member has with each other and the community is symbolized by the four prongs pointing in the same direction
